Who we are:
Santa Clarita Sports Performance was established in January of 2017 by former NFL Pro, Cletis Gordon Jr., who is also the company's Performance Director. Cletis has been training athletes for over 13 years, with an unconventional training approach that has helped his athletes to achieve rapid results and tremendous success. Cletis retired from the world of Professional Football in 2013 after playing 5 seasons in the NFL; 3 with the San Diego Chargers, 1 with the Dallas Cowboys and his last with the Carolina Panthers. He was previously the Head Trainer at Velocity Sports Performance in Santa Clarita, and decided to develop his own training facility, when Velocity closed their doors in 2016. Cletis has graciously donated several years of his time to training and mentoring young athletes, who desire to play at the next level. He has a strong passion for helping young athletes achieve their goals, by helping them learn to be their best, mentally, physically & spiritually. Cletis is also the Assistant Head Football Coach at Trinity Classical Academy in Valencia, CA, where he aims to help build elite athletes and strong men, both on and off the field. SCSP's unique Training Philosophy has been developed through Cletis' research, experience and application, over the past 13 years, and continues to produce promising results on a daily basis.
Cletis & Avnit Gordon
Santa Clarita Sports Performance is owned and operated by Cletis and his wife Avnit. While Cletis, as noted above, directs the training program and works with SCSP athletes, Avnit manages the business side and caters to the clients and SCSP families. Avnit is also teaches High School Theatre at Trinity Classical Academy as well as an after school Drama program for 1st through 6th graders. She also teaches Improv classes for youth to help build confidence and spark their creativity. She looks forward to adding an Improv program for the youth here at SCSP soon! Cletis and Avnit are also parents to a 6 year old daughter who dreams of becoming a professional athlete some day. She is growing up under the SCSP training philosophy and her skill level is a true testimony to the great benefits of training at SCSP! Together the Gordon Family has created a positive family-oriented environment where athletes and all individuals can flourish. They have assembled a strong team of expert trainers and coaches who are trained to produce results, both on and off the field. "We don't just teach our athletes to be the best athletes, but also to be the best people that they can be." SCSP Trainers work with athletes in every sport and at every level, with the goal of progressing each athlete to the next level, and ultimately opening the door to playing at the highest level of the sport. Mike grew up in Lancaster, CA and attended Antelope Valley High School. There he played Quarterback and Safety and was a 3-year starter for the Antelopes before graduating in 2009. After high school, Mike played DB for one year at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was a part of the 2009 Nevada Wolf Pack and attended the 2009 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. Davis then transferred after the 2009-2010 season to Western New Mexico University where he played Safety for the Mustangs for 3 seasons and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology along with a minor in Coaching. After a brief break from educational coursework, Mike went back to school and graduated in 2017 with his Masters of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, with a focus in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention. He is also certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, as well as the National Association of Speed and Explosion as a Certified Speed Specialist. Mike has been training since 2013 and has worked with multiple populations ranging from the youth, elite athletes, collegiate athletes, adults, and the elderly population. His primary focus is on improving the quality of life for everyone he works with and helping them become the best versions of themselves, whether it be through improving physical performance attributes to become a better athlete, or just by boosting self-esteem and self-perception, so one can be comfortable in their own skin. In 2017, Mike was an assistant football coach at Canyon High School, where he coached the Defensive Backs and led the Strength and Conditioning program. This year, in addition to training athletes and adults at SCSP, Mike is coaching the Defensive Backs at Los Angeles Valley College and is also the assistant Strength and Conditioning coach. “Performance Enhancement/Strength and Conditioning is my passion and I hope to be in this business for many many years. I firmly believe that I have been placed on this Earth to not only help individuals improve physically and mentally, but to also have a tremendous impact on their lives that will never be forgotten.” --Mike Davis

Lexie Jones is a Group Fitness Instructor and 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher. Her hobbies include running and sports as she is the mother of a son who plays both baseball and football. Lexie has been teaching fitness classes for 13 years as well as Yoga for over 2 years. She is also a veteran of the US army reserves, serving for 8 years as a Military Police Officer. It was Lexie’s time in the Army that helped grow her love of fitness and helping people. She attended College of the Canyons, where she studied athletic training and anatomy. She received an Associate’s Degree in Kinesiology and became a certified AFAA Group Fitness Instructor. Lexie has taught Cycle, Les Mills Body Pump, and Beachbody programs such as Turbo Kick, INSANITY and PiYo. Through her personal experience and growth, Lexie has learned that there are many benefits of Yoga, that help produce positive changes in the body and help build overall strength. She believes that the flexibility she attained through Yoga, helps her body to recover faster after long runs and hard workouts. Lexie desires to help people with more than just their physical health. She wants to reach out to her clients in a more mindful and impactful way, to share all that she has learned through gaining balance & flexibility, and that is the reason she became a Yoga Instructor. She considers it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of her life; being able to help her students grow within their own practice, feel stronger and become overall healthier. Lexie currently holds certifications from Yoga Alliance and AFAA, as well as Schwinn Cycle and Barre Above. Lexie currently teaches SCSP’s Flexibility and Recovery Classes!
